United Rentals National Accounts Consultant in Etobicoke, Ontario


The National Account Consultant (NAC) establishes and maintains a solid and mutually beneficial business relationship resulting in the highest levels of client and customer satisfaction for the customer. Reporting to the Director, National Accounts, the NAC will be responsible for:

  • Promoting customer satisfaction by monitoring activity and feedback to ensure that transactions are completed as requested. Resolves miscellaneous issues and concerns presented by the customer. Works with all levels of the customer's management team to provide consultation, intervention and facilitation of strategic experiences.

  • Qualifying needs and developing new support opportunities.

  • Providing direction on implementation and delivery of equipment needs and creates an advantage for the customer through the design, development and recommendation of the customer's current programs for leasing and buying options.

  • Maintaining awareness of industry, competition, and market conditions, and works within current client relationships to propose, develop, and implement new savings opportunities.

  • Preparing spend and other performance data reports for the customers.

  • Proactively reviewing customer account performance and making recommendations for adjustments as required.

  • Overseeing monthly key performance indicator reviews. Developing and implements a strategic plan to identify key areas of savings potential. Completing monthly rental forecasts for the customer ensuring accurate and timely reporting as defined. Managing assigned rental budgets.

  • Ensuring the processing of equipment rental needs, including third party rentals, for the customer. Working with local stores to prepare cost estimates and coordinate delivery, partnering with the sales team to set rates as necessary, and arranging for exchanges of required equipment.

  • Actively assessing the customer's training needs related to product and systems use. Arranging multiple safety training events to ensure the customer's familiarization with core equipment.

  • Preparing, coordinating, and delivering product and all other necessary training as required.


  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • 3 - 5 years demonstrated success in progressively-responsible customer service roles required.

  • Must have working knowledge of equipment rental industry, Total Control, Wynne, and pricing for rates, freight, and overtime.

  • Must be familiar with fleet mix differences in different regions throughout the organization.

  • Must have experience developing and using account performance analytics and reports.

  • Industrial rental experience preferred.

  • Strategic marketing experience preferred.

  • Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, required.

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

  • Some travel may be required.
