United Rentals Sales Engineer in Greensboro, North Carolina

As a Sales Engineer at United Rentals, you will focus on high level sales and business development. You will serve as an internal/external consultant with a focus on customer bidding, consulting and constructing large underground projects requiring specialized shoring products and engineering services such as Mega brace shoring, sheeting and slide rail. Your purpose is to drive Specialty Product and Engineered Shoring System profitable revenue for the region and for the Company through internal and external customer relationship building.

Additional duties include the following:

  • Leverage relationships with Sales Representatives and Management from all Company business units to find potential customers for Trench Safety Specialty product educational sales presentations

  • Act as technical SME and resource for engineered shoring systems, provide training and project support to customers for new and existing product lines, while educating other Company business units on Trench Safety

  • Develop, organize and deliver high level presentations to customers bidding, designing, consulting and constructing large underground projects; educate customers very early in the sales cycle-often prior to the actual job or project commencement

  • Introduce United Rentals total value proposition and cross sell opportunities into all sales presentations

  • Refer leads to local Outside Sales Representatives who will execute product rentals, while you remain the Technical Consultant to the customer for the duration of the job or project

  • Utilize Sales Force (Dodge/PEC) to discover potential projects and customers for specialty product usage

  • Accompany sales representatives as necessary to increase revenues and provide technical experience necessary for more complex sales calls, such as engineering firms

  • Other duties assigned as needed

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education; Engineering Degree a Plus

  • Minimum 7 years of technical rental sales experience preferably in the trench safety product/services line, however, technical sales experience and solution based strategic selling in a comparable industry is acceptable

  • Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to high level customers and decision makers

  • Excellent sales, leadership, communication, presentation, and teamwork skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office (specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point)

  • A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and the ability to travel 60% of the time
