United Rentals Project Logistics Manager in Humble, Texas

*This position will cover the West Coast operations. As such, the job location is open to other areas and not strictly just the Houston market.*

The role of the Project and Logistics Manager is to provide the leadership, supervision and support needed to ensure a special event, entertainment or other large project involving substantial Reliable Onsite Services (ROS) products and applications, is run smoothly and efficiently to optimize customer service. Reporting to the Region Fleet Director, the Project and Logistics Manager is the onsite project lead who optimizes and coordinates equipment and staffing logistics, deploys and oversees the work of all onsite employees, and acts as the primary customer contact for the duration of the project with respect to products and applications. This position ensures World-Class customer service and satisfaction through timely and efficient project or event execution, and includes the direct supervision of the onsite project team. Extensive travel may be required at times.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Supervision: Manage project logistics team day-to-day activities, including scheduling, equipment setup/deployment, and breakdown.

  • Provide leadership and supervision needed to consistently deliver World-Class service to external customers at the project site.

  • Motivate, coach and train other onsite employees to exceed customer commitments and expectations as well as to comply with site policies, procedures and customer requirements;

  • Staff each project or event adequately based on skills and workload.

  • Schedule all project employees and maintain accurate and up-to-date time & attendance records. Approve all absence requests based on workload and coverage imperatives of project. Implement strategies to optimize staffing levels/skills and deliver World-Class service and project optimization.

  • Responsible for performance management of project employees; Identify and provide necessary skills training and regular coaching both in one-on- one sessions and in team meetings to motivate performance.

  • Provide regular performance feedback. Reward and recognize employees to reinforce positive behaviors. Promptly develop and present individualized Performance Improvement Plans as needed.

  • Work with RPDM’s, OSR’s, and other ROS staff to arrange for proper project or event coverage, including product and application needs, staffing,

  • Safety: Promote a culture of safety and discipline through leadership, exemplary personal compliance, accountability and communication.

  • Aggressively promote, communicate, and implement all Company and Region safety objectives, policies, and procedures at the project or event;

  • Ensure total compliance as well as prompt incident/accident/near-miss investigations and resolution. Hold all associates and employees accountable for compliance and prevention.

  • Collaborate with all Safety officials and corporate risk management to ensure the support of prescribed safety programs, including audits, safety training, OSHA compliance, and DOT regulations.

  • Responsible for aggressive and continuous performance improvement in injury recordable rate and near-miss reporting.

  • Ensure all employees continually maintain all required certifications and licenses to work on project or event equipment and applications;

  • Participate in pre-project planning meetings and strategy sessions, create with RPDM’s a project logistics and staffing plan:

  • Meet with project employees to review product and application needs, and employee schedules.

  • Meet with customer representatives as needed to plan for project or event;

  • Oversee equipment setup process

  • Responsible for proper staffing of all project employees to maximize customer service

  • Ensure all equipment is ready for operation and safety check performed.

  • Responsible for optimization of equipment performance and overseeing any troubleshooting, if applicable
