United Rentals Sales Development Program Manager in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Description:

United Rentals, the largest equipment rental company in the world, has an opportunity for a Manager, Outbound Sales to join the leadership team of the Sales Development Program. The Sales Development Program provides sales training to Sales Associates towards placement into professional Outside Sales. In this role, the Manager, Outbound Sales, will develop and manage an outbound sales team, in cooperation with the Director, Program Development and Sr. Marketing Analyst. The Manager, Outbound Sales will hold key responsibilities to meet and exceed sales objectives for assigned team by leading the sale and rental of assigned products throughout targeted areas, in addition to oversight of the Sales Associates' development plans towards their promotion into Outside Sales.

Essential Duties:

Sales Coaching and Development:

Sales coaching and development of 10+ Sales Associates to drive lead generation

Assist in the curriculum development and implementation throughout 6-9 month training period

Seek out new, innovative, and persuasive selling techniques to continually evolve the program

People Management:

Recruit, train and develop qualified sales professionals

Communicate job expectations and foster a collaborative climate

Ensure employees complete required compliance training including equipment safety, sales, and negotiation training

Provide guidance and mentoring for field sales staff and store personnel

Guide Sales Associates through Development Plan to be successfully promoted to an Outside Sales position in 6-9 months

Sales Management:

Drive and implement Corporate, Region and local District sales initiatives through coaching, influencing and mentoring sales team

Partner with corporate and field sales departments to maintain an understanding of the evolving market

Provide insight and guidance on best practices and tactics that maximize returns in an outbound call environment

Sales Accountability:

Perform regular forecasting and executive report- outs around key sales metrics

Provide insight into team forecasts and customer trends to predict performance to plan

Leverage sales performance for coaching and development paths for Sales Associates

Partner with Region and District teams to ensure field execution has been completed and customers' needs are satisfied

Process Improvements:

Implement, sustain, research and develop quality process improvements utilizing SalesForce.com and other industry tools.

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required

Experience:

Minimum three years of demonstrated successful sales leadership and territory optimization required

Knowledge of and prior experience with rental equipment preferred

Other Skills Required:

Effective leadership, motivation, and organization skills

Sales management skills

Computer skills (Outlook, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SalesForce.com Preferred)

Excellent communication skills -- written, verbal, facilitating, relaying information and presentation skills

Ability to develop a strategic plan and convert into actionable results

Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on negotiating, collaborating and conflict resolution

Ability to set goals and establish performance standards

Strong analytical skills; metrics oriented

Ability to multi-task, plan and organize time

Driver's License required

Working Conditions:

Office environment with 25% field travel, typically to targeted areas.
