United Rentals Data Scientist, Performance Analytics in Stamford, Connecticut

The Data Scientist of Performance Analytics will support the company’s efforts to use analytics, data science, data mining, AI and GenAI to drive improved decision making, increased return on investment and profitable growth. Will be a key team member on projects that demonstrate the use of Analytical, Data Science, AI, and GenAI techniques throughout the organization. As part of the Performance Analytics team, you'll solve some of the most fascinating and impactful problems in machine learning, information retrieval, NLP & LLM.

What you’ll do:

  • Identify areas where the company’s data can be leveraged with analytical skills and measure/track success of predicted data and results.

  • Designs experiments, test hypotheses, and build models. Applies statistical and predictive modeling techniques to build, maintain, and improve on multiple real-time decision systems.

  • Leverage SQL skills to understand data and to combine multiple data sets into analysis ready data files.

  • Leverage Python and other programming tools to build prototypes in areas of AI, Machine Learning, and Gen AI.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships at both the field and corporate level in order to operationalize and take action from the learning from the data analytics.

  • Building proof of concepts and expose the core logic in a UI or existing front end.

  • Building, validating, testing and deploying predictive models using machine learning techniques to explain or predict behavior and solve a variety of business and engineering problems.

  • Run data queries and analyze data to test data for future production usage.

  • Other duties assigned as needed.

Requirements:

  • Master of Science in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research or Analytical/Quantitative Methods

  • 3-5 years progressive analysis and data science experience

  • Strong experience in: SQL or other programming language; Python or similar high level programming language

  • AWS or similar experience in handling cloud platforms and LLM tools and programming preferred

  • API development and experience in developing new tools and presenting them to all levels

  • Strong business acumen and communication & interpersonal skills

  • Analytical and problem solving skills with knowledge of related technology tools

  • <10% travel
