As an Intern at United Rentals, you will support the Corporate Accounting and Internal Audit Departments. It's a role for an ambitious student who has an interest in learning and growing their skills in a corporate accounting environment.

The role:

  • Support the Corporate Accounting Department, including potential assistance with:

  • preparation and review of support for the accounting of business combinations

  • preparation and review of support for the annual goodwill impairment analysis

  • annual testing for the existence of rental fleet assets

  • the finalization of our adoption of the new leasing standard for 2019

  • reviewing and validating our quarterly and annual filings

  • preparing and reviewing internal monthly reporting

  • Support the Corporate Internal Audit Department, including potential assistance with:

  • performance of control testing related to SOX 404 processes

  • assessment of employee T&E compliance with corporate policies and procedures

  • evaluation of compliance with I.T. general control requirements from third party service providers


The requirements:

  • Current university or college student in accounting or finance (preferably a 5 th year master's student)

  • Prior accounting coursework

  • Ability to manage multi priorities and meet deadlines

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

  • Confidence to deal with employees at all levels of the organization

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Keen attention to detail
