United Rentals Manager, Experience Design in Stamford, Connecticut

In this role, you’ll drive research to illuminate current state experiences and customer needs, partner with colleagues across the business to identify strategic opportunities and drive cross-functional teams to co-create new and innovative solutions. You’ll use service design / experience design as both a mindset and a toolkit for advancing customer and employee innovation.
Serve as a project manager and drive innovation projects through our innovation process,
Lead cross functional customer or employee-centric innovation initiatives to develop digital solutions that will enable us to differentiate ourselves or create outsized operational efficiencies
Use design thinking and communication skills to solve complex problems and help others develop empathy for user.
Designing and facilitating collaborative sessions to identify problem areas, understand processes, create alignment, or generate ideas, concepts and visions for the future.
Translating insights into customer journey maps, service blueprints, storyboards and vision artifacts to create shared understanding and activate change.
Leverage customer and competitive insights, aligned to key segments and audiences, to understand current and emerging needs
Formalize ideas/service concepts into compelling, profitable and differentiated value propositions (scope, benefits/values for customers, competitive benchmark, go-to-market strategy, etc.)
Support the continued development and improvement of our Future Back Innovation process and develop UR methodologies.
Build capabilities for ideation, rapid prototyping, testing, and feedback loops to quickly iterate on potential solutions
Develop Design Thinking methodologies that can be used to upskill fellow employees
Bachelor’s degree required
MBA strongly preferred
- Minimum 4-6 years’ experience required, with 3+ years’ experience in consulting or digital product development experience strongly preferred
Other Skills Required
Strong organizational, interpersonal, as well as written, presentation and oral communication skills
Proficient in design thinking methodologies and digital product management
High proficiency in Microsoft Office: (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); experience in Tableau is preferred
Ability to effectively handle multiple assignments/project components simultaneously
Ability to work independently, as well as be part of a team
- Moderate travel
