United Rentals Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis in Stamford, Connecticut

United Rentals is looking for a senior analyst to join our corporate financial planning & analysis team. Our team impacts the strategic decision making of a wide range of internal customers, from branch managers to regional Vice Presidents, from corporate department heads to our senior executive team.

This role will provide you with an excellent platform for continued career growth in finance, business analytics or similar fields within United Rentals.

You will join the team that maintains and develops our forecasting and planning systems, which are key systems for our 1,350 rental stores. We use IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) for both our forecasting and planning processes and internal financial reporting. You will be challenged to find smart technical solutions to our ever-changing planning needs, and to maintain flexible but scalable planning models that help the company drive profitable growth.

Essential Duties:

Manage our financial forecasting, planning and reporting systems in TM1:

  • Collaborate with finance and business leaders to maintain and enhance our reporting and forecasting tools

  • Deliver against high operational standards of system availability and reliability

  • Lead forecast model enhancement projects

  • Manage project communication and serve as first point of contact for team projects

  • Develop cube objects, rules and data load processes

  • Perform regular data updates and validate results

  • Develop and maintain consistent reporting on key business financial performance across various functions

  • Assist with system infrastructure, maintenance and upgrades

Manage our fleet planning systems:

  • Collaborate with fleet management leaders to maintain and enhance models for equipment sales, capex planning and non-rental vehicles planning

  • Lead forecast model enhancement projects

  • Train users on model as needed

Other Corporate FP&A Support:

  • Actively participate in assigned FP&A projects

  • Assist with acquisition integration projects

  • Respond to specific requests by leadership for insights on key priority topics

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Engineering or similar analytical field required. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

3 to 5 years of prior experience as financial, business or systems analyst

  • Proficiency in IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) or similar business planning system

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and modeling, including Microsoft Excel

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)

  • Proven project management skills

  • Programming experience using tools such as SQL to assess datasets and recommend solutions

  • Experience in systems and Tableau dashboards design
