As a Telematics and IoT Technology Manager at United Rentals, you will focus on assessing and integrating current and future technology to support the company’s telematics innovation strategy. As a technology manager in the Advanced Solutions Group, you will work closely with internal stakeholders, OEMs, and 3rd party telematics solutions providers, to ensure the Company is at the forefront of technological innovations in our industry.

Location - preferred locations are the Stamford, CT or Charlotte, NC offices. Open to other locations based on successful candidate.
Additional duties include the following:
Interface with internal and external customers to identify telematics requirements/data points desired
Work with OEMs and ZTR, Track Unit and other 3rd party telematics providers to develop next-generation telematics devices and analytics
Work with United Rentals' business groups to identify telematics hardware needs for specialty equipment (e.g., Trucks, Generators) where warranted
Evaluate solutions for complex telematics health problems such as indoor positioning, limits on cellular communication, non-powered asset tracking
Evaluate various communication protocols (satellite, cellular, Wi-Fi, Lora Wan)
Evaluate and advise on impact of 5G or other IoT innovations
Other duties assigned as needed
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
5 plus years of experience in the application of telematics and other technology solutions in the construction equipment, fleet, logistics or any related industry
Strong telematics and IoT acumen as applied in the construction equipment or related industry
Strong analytical skills
Ability to professionally interact with and our Branches, Region and District Staff, and Vendors
Ability to resolve complex technology issues, handle fast pace, often multiple priorities, and internal user involvement in demanding situations.
MS Office Excel, PowerPoint and Word basic competency
